Frequently Asked Questions

Do I need to understand IFS before joining?
No prior IFS knowledge is needed. Our facilitators provide guidance and explanation throughout each session.
What happens in a typical meeting?
Meetings include guided meditation, group sharing, and IFS-informed discussion in a supportive environment. Our facilitators ensure everyone feels welcome and understood.
How do I know which meeting is right for me?
We offer various meeting types, including general recovery, identity-specific groups, and topic-focused sessions. Start with any that interest you - you're welcome to try different groups.
Can I attend if I'm also in other recovery programs?
Absolutely! Many members find PATH complements their existing recovery work.
What if I'm supporting someone else in recovery?
We welcome supporters and offer specific meetings for friends and family members.
Is PATH religious or spiritual?
PATH is non-religious and welcomes people of all beliefs or none. We focus on internal healing and community support.
What kind of privacy/confidentiality policies do you have?
We maintain strict confidentiality. What's shared in meetings stays in meetings, and we follow IFS Institute's code of conduct.
Does PATH recommend IFS therapists, coaches, and practitioners?
While we don't endorse specific practitioners, we recognize that many members have found value in various therapeutic approaches, including Internal Family Systems (IFS). We encourage members to explore resources that might be helpful for their recovery journey. The IFS Institute directory is an excellent starting point for those interested in finding qualified practitioners in that modality. We strongly recommend that each person do their own due diligence to determine what approach and practitioner best fits their unique recovery journey.
Can I promote or offer my coaching or therapy services at PATH?
In order to maintain PATH as a safe and non-commercial space for recovery, we ask that members refrain from directly promoting or soliciting clients for their professional services during meetings or coffee chat time. This policy helps ensure that our space remains focused on mutual support rather than business networking. We do encourage the sharing of general resources and information that might benefit the community, but direct solicitation or promotion of specific practitioners (including oneself) is not permitted. This distinction helps us preserve the integrity and purpose of our recovery community. If you are interested in partnering with PATH to provide a donation based workshop for our members please contact us.
